Streets & Sidewalks

The Street Department within Public Works is responsible for maintaining streets and sidewalks that are owned by, and fall within the legal city limits of, the City of Stafford. The Texas Department of Transportation and Fort Bend County also own and operate roadways both within the Stafford city limits and extraterritorial jurisdictions (ETJs). Street jurisdiction in the area can be recognized by the distinctive color schemes of the street signs: solid red for the City of Stafford, solid blue for the City of Sugar Land, solid green for the City of Houston, green and white for the City of Meadows Place, and blue and red for the City of Missouri City. Please note, however, that jurisdiction does not necessarily mean ownership.
