Xavier Herrera was elected to the Stafford City Council on February 20, 2021, to fill the unexpired term of former Stafford City Councilmember and current Stafford Mayor Cecil Wills through a special called election.
Councilmember Herrera, his wife, and his sons are lifelong Stafford residents. Councilmember Herrera's children attended Stafford Municipal School District (SMSD), which inspired him to become involved with the district at a deeper level. Herrera served on the SMSD Board of Trustees from 2015-to 2021, holding the Vice President and Board Secretary Positions. Herrera also earned the designation of Master Trustee from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), the third such trustee to earn that distinction in order to provide more experience to the school, its students, and parents.
Herrera also served as Chairman of the City of Stafford's Planning and Zoning Commission as well as many local educational Boards, the National Association of Latino elected and Appointed Officials, and development councils to name just a few.
Term Expires: May 2023
