The City of Stafford has partnered with the Houston Humane Society to provide animal shelter services for the city.
Any animal found by the City of Stafford animal control team now has its best shot at finding a way back to its owner or at finding its forever home through the Houston Humane Society.
The agreement allows Stafford to give the greatest standard of care to every animal that comes into the city's possession while also helping the Humane Society. Any animal that is found in the City of Stafford is brought to a Stafford-specific area at HHS for five days.
During those five days, the animal will be posted to the City of Stafford’s lost pets page with information on the pet. The pet’s owner can contact the Stafford Police Department’s non-emergency number at 281-261-3950 to reclaim their pet during that five-day hold period.
After five days, the Stafford animals are then transferred fully into the Houston Humane Society’s system, where they are vetted for adoption and receive the highest standard of care while preparing to find their forever homes.
“Every animal that Stafford brings to us will have its chance to be evaluated medically and behaviorally,” said Houston Humane Society Shelter Manager Brandon Dilleshaw. “Our goal for every animal Stafford brings is to find them a perfect home. These dogs and cats will be mixed in with our regular population of animals at the shelter. If we are unable to reunite the animal with its owner, we will do everything to find that animal a home as soon as possible.”
Stafford Animal Control and the Humane Society both bring a great standard of care to these animals. With the HHS’s resources, any animal found in Stafford has a great opportunity to find a forever home.
