Critical Stages of Inspection
- Before any concrete Is poured, the City requires inspection of the following:
- Underground Plumbing
- Underground Electrical
- Rebar for Foundations
- Before drywall installation, the City requires inspection of the following:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- During the framing process, the City requires inspection of the following:
- Inspection of the framing members for spacing and size, ties and clips, headers, lintels
- Final Inspection
The Inspector verifies that construction meets the City of Stafford adopted construction codes and City Ordinances. The primary objective of inspections is to assure all buildings are safe to occupy. Permits are not finalized until all required inspections have been conducted and the construction is approved. Building Permits are valid for up to 180 days. Building Permits will expire if work does not commence within 6 months of permit issuance or stops for longer than six months. Inspections must be requested at each stage of construction.
How to Schedule an Inspection
Please follow the instructions below to schedule a building inspection*:
- Log on to MGO Connect.
- Navigate to the Dashboard and choose to “Open” your project.
- Select “View and Request Inspections,” click “New Request,” then select the type of inspection, day, and time frame (morning/afternoon).
- To check the results of your inspection, go to MGO Connect.
*Please note that all Fire Marshal inspections should be scheduled through their system. Please consult the Fire Marshal’s subpage on Inspections for more information.
Permits
As of May 1, 2023, the City of Stafford Development Services Department no longer accepts emails or hard copies for permit submittals. Please visit our online portal at MGO Connect
