Code Compliance
The Code Compliance Department promotes and protects the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents, businesses, and visitors of the city. The Code Compliance Department has four divisions: General Code Compliance, Consumer Health Services, Rental Registration Program, and Animal Control.

Animal Control
The Animal Control division provides humane education to the public, promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals through enforcement of city ordinances and state laws.

Consumer Health Services
Food Permits are necessary to protect the public health by establishing and enforcing requirements for food service operations including caterers working within the city limits. The City’s Health Inspector works in collaboration with the community to promote the health and safety of all Food Establishments and vendors.

General Code Compliance
The General Code Compliance's mission is to maintain Stafford’s status as a clean, livable city by ensuring properties comply with rules set by City Council.

Residential Rental Registration Program
Owners or the owner's agent of rental properties (single-family rental homes), located in the City of Stafford, are required to register their properties annually by submitting a registration application with a non-refundable fee of $250. The program also requires a mandatory annual comprehensive inspection and a discretionary inspection for any critical or life safety violations under certain circumstances. (Ref: Chapter 14 of the Stafford City Code).
