Air Travel


Stafford is approximately 21 miles from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), located approximately 7 miles south of downtown Houston, near I-45/Gulf Freeway, the major highway heading from the City to NASA and Galveston Island.

Stafford is approximately 39 miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)located approximately 23 miles north of downtown Houston, near the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8 North).


Road Network


Stafford sits along the U.S. 90A corridor and offers desirable access to IH 69 and Sam Houston Tollway.


Rail


Rail in the City of Stafford has a long history. The first rail line through Stafford was built in 1853 by Buffalo Bayou, Brazos, and Colorado (BBB&C), a 20-mile stretch between Harrisburg and Stafford. The line has since expanded to a vast rail network in the Houston area. Today, Union Pacific Railroad owns and operates this line which serves over 30 trains a day and will continue to see further growth in the future. The State of Texas leads the nation in total rail route miles with 10,384.


Port


The Port of Houston is located 23 miles from the City of Stafford and is one of the most highly ranked ports in the United States. Each year, more than 200 million tons of cargo move through the Port of Houston, carried by more than 8,000 vessels and 200,000 barge calls.

Electricity


The State of Texas operates in a deregulated environment which is managed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Commercial and residential customers are able to choose their own electric providers. Water & Wastewater


Fort Bend County Water Control and Improvement District #2 (WC & ID #2) owns and operates the water and wastewater infrastructure in the City of Stafford. The District is a political subdivision of the State of Texas governed by an elected five-member board and is considered a primary government.
