Captain Joe Williams Jr.
Captain Williams began his law enforcement career with the Stafford Police Department in 2006. Through dedication, leadership, and a strong commitment to public service, he progressed through the ranks and was promoted to Captain in 2023, where he is currently assigned to the Support Services Division.
Throughout his career, Captain Williams has served in a wide range of operational, instructional, and supervisory roles. His assignments include Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer (FTO), Traffic Officer and Accident Investigator, Police Instructor, Mental Health Officer, Office of Professional Standards Investigator, and SWAT Negotiator. He has also held supervisory positions as Patrol Sergeant and Patrol/Special Operations Lieutenant, gaining extensive experience in both frontline operations and specialized units.
Captain Williams completed the North Harris Community College Police Academy in 2003 and holds the Master Peace Officer certification. His advanced leadership and professional training include graduation from the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy, PATC Leadership, the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP) and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Leadership School.
His service and dedication have been recognized with several honors, including Stafford Police Department Officer of the Year in 2011 and the Optimist Club Officer of the Year award in 2019.
As the Support Services Captain, Captain Williams oversees the Criminal Investigations Division, Emergency Communications Center, Crime Scene Unit, Crime Victims Liaison, and Records. He is honored to serve alongside dedicated professionals and supervisors, and credits the experience and knowledge gained within Support Services as instrumental in his development as a Texas law enforcement professional. Captain Williams remains committed to supporting his personnel and providing high-quality service to the community and the Stafford Police Department.
