Lieutenant Luciano Lopez
Lieutenant Lopez serves in the Support Services Division for the Stafford Police Department and brings 14 years of dedicated law enforcement service to the community. He joined the Stafford Police Department in 2018, after previously serving with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and the Fulshear Police Department.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant Lopez has served in a variety of operational and supervisory roles, including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In his current role, Lieutenant Lopez oversees several key operational and investigative functions, including the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit, Property Room, Emergency Communications (Dispatch), and the Records Division. He also serves as one of the department’s Public Information Officer, managing media relations, public communications, and press releases to ensure accurate and timely information is shared with the community.
Lieutenant Lopez is a Master Peace Officer and holds both an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Wharton County Junior College and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston–Downtown. He is also a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, reflecting his commitment to leadership development and professional excellence.
In addition to his supervisory responsibilities, Lieutenant Lopez holds multiple specialized certifications and instructor roles, including Firearms Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Instructor, Taser Instructor, Intoxilyzer Operator, Mental Health Officer.
Lieutenant Lopez is an active member of the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) and the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA). He remains committed to strengthening departmental operations, supporting personnel, and ensuring the Stafford Police Department continues to provide professional, responsive service to the community.
